Kathy Ambush is most famous for being the first wife of Clarence Thomas, the current Supreme Court of the United States justice, however the story of Kathy Ambush can be described as one of a woman’s strength and transformation. Even though she rose to fame with her connection to a famous man in public life she has kept her personal life to herself and her personal exploits and family ties.

Early Life

Kathy Grace Ambush was born in Worcester Massachusetts in 1950 to Nelson Ambush and Shigalo Gladys Sato Ambush. Raised in a middle-class family during the civil Rights movement, changes sweeping across America were a part of her life.

Her father had a job of a dental technician and was rather acknowledged in their neighborhood, he appreciated education and persistence within his offspring. Social changes of the 1960s impacted her and living in New England contributed to a personal vision for the future.

Education and community engagement were very important when she was young, her parents use to stress on it. These principles would in future shape her own perspective towards the family and career. She attended Marian Central Catholic High School.

Career

After the completion of her studies, Kathy Ambush went to join the business administration and community service. Although much information has been restricted about her career life, she has been actively employed in administrative positions

As well as provided support to community-based organizations since her adulthood. She most often worked on educational projects and community-oriented programs. Over the years Kathy has been able to stay unaffected in keeping her personal affairs to herself.

She has held certain jobs that have enabled her to contribute to society and at the same time she has not been in the limelight like most personalities and their friends.

Kathy Ambush and Clarence Thomas started dating when they were still studying at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester Massachusetts. They started dating during APA and things were transforming socially in America, where Thomas graduated and married her soon after in 1971, or early in the year.

Many of the experiences that the couple had during the initial stages of their union involve hardships and dreams as they were still perfecting their careers. The couple was blessed with a child, Jamal Adeen Thomas in the following year, that is 1973.

As a young couple, they had to deal with work and family, cemented with Clarence’s studies at Yale Law School and entry into public practice. During these formative years, Kathy was the one keeping their family afloat and sometimes holding down a job and taking care of a toddler.

Their marriage was after the start of his career in public office, in the Reagan administration, and as chair, of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Kathy remained a dignified and private woman when her former husband increased his public visibility after their divorce which included such politically sensitive activities as his nomination to and confirmation on the Supreme Court in 1991.
