Early Life

Born in 1966, Mary Rose Donahue was a witness of critical changes in the American society and arts. She personally had the opportunity to grow up in Dayton, Ohio and live through the advantages and disadvantages of being the daughter of a television personality on the rise.

In her childhood, she experienced her father entering politics and becoming more famous and on the other hand her mother’s endeavors to try keep things as normal as possible for her and her siblings. Despite Phil Donahue’s national TV talk show, Mary Rose and siblings were brought up as rather normal kids.
